stepping foot in BERLIN

our friends cheryl and troy are here visiting us from L.A. so the 3 of us hopped on the train the other day and saw BERLIN for the 1st time.

 we learned that 70% of the city was destroyed in WWII--pretty profound to comprehend

so all day long we saw the

CONTRAST

of east & west

of post war

and pre-war

sometimes even side by side

we saw things from the

not so distant past

(that's a part of the berlin wall)

modern

and historic

some sights were just plain fun...

like cheryl and her horsie friends

 by the end of the day we all agreed:

this city of

CONTRAST

 is stunning

and was well worth every step
