Have HOPE: brothel easter gifts

above is a sample of the easter cards my friend at our church in los angeles is making for our easter brothel gifts. she made the cards for our christmas gifts and the cards meant so much to the women that amber was inspired to do it again.

HOW ADORABLE ARE THESE?!

because she just moved last week, she told me that she didn't have much time and thus would keep the design 'simple.' this is simple??? simply amazing, i think! (thanks amber). they are tri-fold and open up to jeremiah 29:11.

now amber isn't alone in this--our church back home, CVCC, has two women's bible studies weekly. the women in those studies are funding these pretty babies--the paper and ribbon, etc. costs more than you'd think. so does the $50 for postage! we are incredibly thankful for this beautiful example of women helping women--women in l.a. loving on those in the brothels and on the streets of hamburg. outstanding.

what is even more exciting is that instead of giving out 150 gifts like we did at christmas, this time we are giving out 225. whoo hooo! about 1/2 of the gifts at christmas went to the women in the brothels, and 1/2 to the women working on the main street of the reeperbahn. however, there is a special (in a bad way) street, that is closed off to women and children--only for men. and this street is located on the reeperbahn and offers women in windows. awful. since it's closed off to women, we haven't handed out gifts there--but the women that we know on the street have encouraged us to do so--so we're all excited about it.

our theme this easter is Have HOPE--and we think the candles will be a perfect way of saying that in a tangible way: that in the darkness, there is HOPE--there is a LIGHT, the Light, that shines even brighter.
