SPECIAL

a few weekends ago our friends bryan and eva-maria invited our family to the stadthaus hotel for brunch.  it's a hotel that SPECIALizes in running the hotel with a staff of about 95% special needs folk.  it was the 1st of its kind in germany and now there is a chain of 24 of these fine hotels throughout germany. eva-maria helps run the hotel and has a huge heart for her staff.  the employees were all dressed up and were so proud of their tasks.  they were very friendly, professional and full of JOY.  the hotel is immaculate, pretty, and had a great feel to it.  the food was delicious, too!

it's our opinion that jose knows when other people have down syndrome. they always seem to gravitate towards one another.  our server was the woman below, and she said to jose, "you're like me!" she gave him and hug and of course our loverboy gave her one back.  the guy to the left has worked at the hotel for 24 years i think. he was very sweet.

our little prince taught all of the staff how to give amercian high 5's and 'knucks' as you can see below.

thank you herr und frau lee
for a wunderbar morning and visit
to the stadthaus hotel!

***by the way, if any of you happen to have a soft spot in your heart for special people, you should take a look at this blog, written by a father who has a 17 year old son with special needs. his writing is incredible and leaves you kinda speechless.  if you read it let me know what you think.

So great! Yep, I have noticed, too, that those with special needs have an amazing abundance of compassion...both your post and Jake's dad's post brought joyful lumps to my throat!
