another book rec

i know not all of you have a passion for women in prostitution like i do...but i know a few of you who follow our blog do...so this post is for you.

in a few weeks our brothel team is hosting an evening seminar and i am the main speaker, and i'm so excited about it. i'll be sharing why women 'choose' prostitution, the consequences they suffer, and why they don't stop when they could choose freedom.

in preparing for it i've had my face in my books--about 9 of them, with all of the most up to date research on the subject. it is grueling to read. it's graphic and sad and depressing and after reading it you just feel yuck. until i read Escaping the Devil's Bedroom.

the difference with this book compared to the others is that it's written by a christian journalist, with a heart not just to expose the issue but to shed light on how God IS inflitrating this deepest darkness.  lives are being saved and transformed.  hallelujah!

the book is an overview of the different types of sex work worldwide and then pairs it with various ministries all over the world that are making a huge impact in this industry.

yes, it's still graphic--but it is interwoven with powerful stories of hope and new life.  you finish it being grateful that God is so intimately involved in the lives of men and women that are trapped in this lifestyle and inspired to be part of the solution.

it's as easy, fast read (most of mine i have on this issue are not); i highly recommend. unfortunately, for our german readers, this book has not yet been translated into german.

it just recently came out, so it's very new...but check out the raving reviews it's gotten on amazon thus far, here.

let me know if you read it and what you think...

***by the way, thanks to those of you who responded to my Redeeming Love post. one of our readers emailed me with the idea of having anyone that wants to buy and donate one of the books to the women to order it on amazon.de, which is amazon, germany--to save shipping costs from the u.s. and also to be able to order in german if you prefer (we can use both languages). the german version is more expensive because of the translation and also b/c of the exchange rate--the dollar is weak compared to the euro--so it's like $24 american dollars.  the english version is around $15 american dollars. from my experince here with amazon.de, the shipping is included in the price. email me if you are interested in doing this and i will give you our mailing address. thanks especially to leslie and judith! also, for any of you Francine Rivers fans, she just came out with a new historical novel and it's said to be fantastic, titled Her Mother's Hope. Let me know if you read it...
