Boy is this a fun post to write for you :)!
Last week when we went into the brothels, Beautiful One's door was closed. One of her colleagues told us we could knock on the door, so we did. She opened it and looked just awful. She said, "Please, come in, but be careful--don't get too close---I'm sick." She rubbed her swollen throat to show us that it hurt.
We hadn't seen her in about a month, so we were not going anywhere if you know what I mean :). So she started telling us what a rough few weeks it'd been...having been sick, she can't work...and every day she can't work, she still has to pay rent. Right now she's in debt to the brothel owner about $4,000 euros (ah, that's a whopping $5,800 U.S. dollars). (See why some people call this business s_ _ slavery? How will she EVER be able to pay back that debt? Where is her way out?).
ANYWAY...so as she shares with us she begins to cry...and Beautiful One is a tough cookie I tell you...not the type to easily cry or be 'broken.' But I believe God is softening her heart. So we ask if we can pray for her, and she says Yes (we pray with her every time we see her---usually we are with her for about an hour and then she has to go back to work). So we pray for her--about all that she mentioned--and of course we prayed for her to be healed, too--but that wasn't the main focus of our prayer.
After we were done praying, she had the most beautiful smile. She looked like a completely different woman than the one who had opened the door. Then my friend Rebekka asked, "So how do you feel?"
Beautiful One stopped to think about it. She grabbed her throat and swallowed. She touched her head. And she said something like this:
It's gone. The pain in my throat is gone. It hurt so bad today I could barely swallow something to drink. I also had a terrible headache in the back of my head all day. It hurt so bad that I took 5 tablets. They didn't help. When I opened the door to let you in, my head was still throbbing. The pain is gone. It's all gone.
As she was speaking you could tell she was processing all that had just happened. Her face looked shocked...and then it turned to tears of joy.
She BURST into tears.
BURST.
Out of unbelief and out of gratefulness.
She had been physically healed
by the God of the Universe.
And she knew it.
I don't think she knew that
to be healed of a sickness was even an option.
She said,
UNGLAUBTLICH! UNGLAUBTLICH!
unbelievable! unbelievable!
And she lifted her hands and said,
Thank you, Father
Thank you.
She was stunned and amazed (as were we!)
We told her that when Jesus was here on earth, He healed. And that was one of the reasons He died on the cross for us, too--to heal us. And in every way: physically, emotionally, psychologically and spiritually.
He loves you, Beautiful One.
He
LOVES
YOU.
And you know what, she not only believes it--
she knows it.
