Getting Away

you know, sometimes you just need to get away
it's especially nice to get away with
F R I E N D S
these are my two closest friends
here in hamburg:
iris & maren

we met iris the first time we came to
hamburg 3 years ago...we clicked with she
and her husband right away
maren is one of her best friends, so iris
introduced us to maren during the first
weeks we were here, and we became instant friends

this past weekend we drove
out into the countryside
abut a 1/2 hour south of hamburg
it was GORGEOUS!

we stayed at a little 'pension' type of place
and above was the field behind it
there are 3 horses in that corral,
but it's hard to see them :)
they gave me a few neighs when I walked by

above the farmhouse it says:
the eyes of the Lord are on this house day and nighthow awesome is that!?
i would love to have a farm someday
and have a verse written over it!
to have something written like this
is very typical 'old school' German
love it!

there were so many pretty places to walk
to and through...
fields, forests, meadows...
it was a varied landscape
all beautiful, and right out our front door

the reason for our fun getaway?
GOD TIME!
we called it our God Retreat...
yes, we had fun together as girls,
but our purpose was to spend time with the Lord
we each spent time in solitude with God
but then spent time together
praying
singing
talking about scripture
& encouraging one another



the forest was filled with wild flowers
i have never seen such a sight!
what a treat it was to get away from the city
and to be able to concentrate on the things of God
in the midst of His stunning creation
it was wonderful

(and don't worry,
buddy and the kids had a great time w/o mommy
and he had his own God retreat
getaway a few months ago :)
