the HEART ain't always pretty

a doorway in the "Chanze,"
a hip yet grungy area of town

don't judge a cute shop by its cover

buddy is preaching at an all night prayer service this friday night.  his sermon is titled The Heart of the City.  he wants to include pictures of hamburg in his presentation, so he sent me on a 4 hour adventure today to try and get a glimpse of the HEART of this city through my lens.  you've seen me post how beautiful hamburg is--now here's a more well-rounded perspective.

the rathaus garbed in all her glory,
with the annual christmas market at her feet

child's play

the largest M. in hamburg--there are at least 20 others

tabloids abound

business thrives

holy visions of the past & present

home for some is under a bridge

home for others is not

this is a typical post war apartment building
all clad in modern brick

hamburg is said to be one of europe's wealthiest cities.
jacket, $4,000 USD; boots, $525 USD

a park bench like you'd see in any other city

one of the best department stores along hamburg's
famous shopping street, Monckebergstrasse

trash

view of the harbor from the U-Bahn (subway station)

lost in advertisements
detailing all the happenings of the city

the public transportation system is huge and well used

hamburg's beer of choice

hope that gave you a better feel for the HEART of this great city that we love so very much. much love to you all!

Very cool photos. Wish I could sit and listen to Buddy's heart as he speaks.
